How to block pop-up to avoid unwanted programs

PUA / PUP (potentially unwanted application / potentially unwanted program) is a software that you may not have installed willingly, as sometimes it comes bundled with free apps.  To avoid getting unwanted programs to be installed in our PC it is always better to block the browser pop-up

To disable or block pop ups

To Enable/Disable the pop-up blocker IN CHROME :

  1. In your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top-right, click More More and then Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  4. Under ‘Privacy and security’, click Content settings.
  5. Click Pop-ups.
  6. At the top, turn the setting to Allowed or Blocked.

To Enable/Disable the pop-up blocker IN SAFARI:

  1. In your computer, open Safari .
  2. From the Safari menu, choose Preferences
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Use Block pop-up windows option to block and unblock popups

To Enable/Disable the pop-up blocker IN EXPLORER:

  1. Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools button , and then select Internet options.
  2. On the Privacy tab, under Pop-up Blocker, select Settings.
  3. In the Pop-up Blocker settings dialog box, under Blocking level, set the blocking level to High: Block all pop-ups (Ctrl + Alt to override).
  4. Select Close, and then select OK.

To Enable/Disable the pop-up blocker IN OPERA:

  1. Select ‘menu’ (the Opera icon on the top left of your browser)
  2. Select ‘settings’
  3. Click ‘websites’ from the list
  4. Under the pop-ups section select ‘allow all sites to show pop-ups’
  5. Close the ‘settings’ page

To Enable/Disable the pop-up blocker IN FIREFOX:

  1. Open the “Mozilla FireFox” Browser.
  2. Click on the drop down menu on the top left corner of the firefox browser, and select “Options.”
  3. The “Options” window will open.
  4. Click on the “Content” tab.
  5. Check the “Block pop-up windows”.
  6. Click the “ok” button.
  7. Pop-Up Windows is now blocked in Mozilla Firefox Browser.
